Review Methodology

We use a lightweight but explicit review workflow for personal finance content, especially for pages that cite rates, contribution limits, withdrawal assumptions, and regulatory guidance.

Source hierarchy

  1. Primary sources such as IRS releases, SEC resources, Federal Reserve reports, BLS, BEA, CFPB, and similar institutions.
  2. Original research from established institutions and industry reports.
  3. Credible secondary explainers only when primary materials are unclear or impractical for a general audience.

Page review process

  • Authors draft the page angle, explanations, and examples.
  • A second reviewer checks material claims, dates, thresholds, and important definitions.
  • When a page is updated for new rules or data, the review date is refreshed on the article.

Freshness standards

  • Annual-limit pages are revisited when the new year’s limits are released.
  • Retirement and tax-adjacent pages are reviewed when thresholds, phaseouts, or rules change.
  • Behavioral and evergreen pieces are updated when examples, links, or supporting data become stale.
